Reflection of Week 5 (Presentation on ASSURE (model) lesson plan)

A tough task for this week, presenting our lesson plan which is based on the ASSURE model including the video made before.

Frankly speaking, my teammates and I don't really understand what is actually the needs that must be in the lesson plan presentation. After referred back to Mr. Norsarihan, we have a clear idea of what we are going to do. Firstly, we have divided the works into two parts, designing and presenting. So, the girls (Barbara Kath & Khatika) agreed to design the lesson plan while the boys (Ahmad Azrul Afeze, Halil and me) work on presenting part.

Our lesson plan was based on form 2 text book. We used the theme of "Famous People" to portray the elements of adjectives used in describing the selected athletes and artists. In the presentation, we also include in activities that suite with the ability of form 2 students. One of the activity is, they will be given an opportunity to write a greeting card to their favourite artists or athletes such as Dato' Lee Chong Wei and Dato' Nicol Ann  David. They are allow to use any adjectives to congratulate their idols due to their impressive achievement. Then a greeting card will be shown in front of the class after that.

Before I put my pen off, I think we had done a great job. Despite of having difficulties at first in designing the lesson plan which totally follow the ASSURE Model, the time constraint also place us in hard situation. But patience is always worth in hardship. We can smile happily when our lecturer really satisfied with our output. I I reckon the lesson plan will be one of my "friend" when I start my teaching in three years from now. So, good luck to all!!!!!

Reflection of Week 4 (CASPER MODEL)

Back to our lecture, this is new topic for this week.

CASPER???First thing that came into my mind is the ghosts. I never heard that grotesque term before class started. What is CASPER stand for and what is/are the vital roles play by that word??

CASPER is actually one of the techniques suggested to be implied in creating PowerPoint slides/presentation. There's 6 principles based on the abbreviation of C.A.S.P.E.R that we can simply use in our ppt slide.
Six of them are:

C = Contrast

Contrasting in terms of  font, graphics and colours used.

In designing slides, we have to concern about the way to separate the idea and the content of a slide. Here, we can use a variety of colours or BOLD or ITALIC the word.The size of the font and so highlighter can be utilize to differentiate the main idea and the content details. This will help the reader to get the main idea easily. However, the colours and the fonts used must be readable and simple. Wise advice, use maximum 3 colours in a slide. So the reader are not doodling. 

A = Alignment

Arrangement between text and graphics.

There are different types of alignment, from left, right, center and justified. In case you like to insert a graphic on the left, you can either justify your text or format them to the left. Alignment is vital to make your slide more organized.

S = Simplicity

Design and Content of your slides.

Designing a slide needs the user to insert in only the important points, not a whole passage or text. Therefore, simplicity should guide the user to insert not too much words in a slide. Here, the use of font types, graphics and colours also must be taken into account to imply simplicity in your presentation kit.Thus, the readers will be having a better understanding in reading your slide. 

P= Proximity

Distance between text and graphics used.

There's must be a gap between the text and the graphics used to help the readers have a clear view about the explanation (text) and the graphics. Then, you must fixed the distance between the text and the related graphic.

E= Emphasis

As aforementioned, do not paste the whole passage or text in your presentation kit. Your focus only on the main events or points. In your slides, you can distinguish the title and the content by colours as well as using the bold and italic features. You can also highlight the key words for each main ideas.

R= Repetition

Repetition of font types, graphics and colours can be applied throughout your presentation IF you needed.

Reflection of Week 3 ( Evaluation of Blog)

Assalammualaikum W.B.T

This week is an evaluation week when we gonna show our unique and impressive blog to others (my coursemates). A few aspects will be observe and judge by our lecturer including creativity and content.

Mine is not the first one because I am use to blogging since few years ago. I have five to six personal blogs before. But I haven't updated them since time is too short for me due to the jammed-packed schedule. For me myself, I tend to read blogs which having a simple but meaningful content. Wise advice from Barbara Kath; an expert in this field, don't put too much gadget because your blog will look messy and unorganized. In addition, it will make your blog "heavy" too running.

For those who are not having one, I suggest you to have it. It is not only functioning as personal diary, but it can be your reference in study, finding new virtual friends and changing ideas which beneficial for both side. Your creativity in designing your own blog as well as your great entry such example the current issues will drag others' attention to visit yours.

Furthermore, just click on a few buttons you will be linked to your favourite web site such as facebook, twitter and thumblr. This feature needs you to insert "batch" for each social networking for example, after simple clicking, you will find yourself in another "world". Blogs have a vast of features and functions that can be used by the bloggers.

A token of gratitude should be ours especially my coursemates for their amazing job in designing their own blog. Though some of the fellas are new-comers, that is not an excuse for them to show their creativity to others in class. Me myself was satisfied with my masterpiece. This showed that future teachers also can be as creative as artist but through the different platform. :) Well done peeps!!!

Reflection of Week 2

Assalammualaikum W.B.T....

Do you still remember that we were asked to create a video last week???

This week, we have presented the video in front of everyone to be evaluated and watched. I reckon that each group had done a great job for this particular task. Despite of this the video was our first piece of work, I am pretty sure  everybody have tried to give their best shoot.

Back into our business, the first presentation was about poetry and literature;was presented by Doris, Chong Xin Txin, Ting Suk Hua, Ilanggo Kanan and Ting Tiew Keng. The combination of technology and their skill especially in reciting the poem was really awesome. Personally, they deserved to get the compliments for their great hardworking in creating the video. From the students sit, I will be inspired to learn deeply about the literature. Their presentation contained a meaningful stuff as they have emphasized on a few techniques use in literature field. The things that have made their video more interesting were the entertaining background music and clip-videos which really fulfilled the theme;literature. Well done group 1!!!! 

Move to the next group; Abang Joharizal,Aileen, Rachel, Jenny and Leon. They have came up with something different which touched on Natural Disaster. The video shown a vast of values related to natural disaster and their harmful towards humankind. What I can say is they nailed the theme very well and they have brought many worthwhile messages for human in taking care of mother earth. The clips in the video itself had shown the hazardous of flood, landslide and so on. So just bear in mind; don't let the earth express their anger due to our irresponsibility and selfishness.

The third group (Nigel, Josman,Freddy,Hilman and Vanessa) had came up with a video on adjectives. They were successfully apply the teaching method using ICT as their teaching instrument. If I am a student, it will be easier for me to understand what is adjectives all about. They were also inserted in cartoon clips which made us more clear about adjectives. Well done guys!!

The last group also came up with the same topic as theirs is ours. However, there were many different input despite of the similarity. I believes that my group;Barbara,Khatika, Azrul, Halil had done a great work for our video. Although we felt satisfy and pleased with the video shown, still there were a few things that we need to work on in the future. However, I would like to thanks to my group members for their cooperation and a well done job for this task.

Creating a video might not a cup of tea for some of us, but I'm pretty sure that this task have brought a vast of new knowledge which will work best during our teaching later. I believe all the TESLIANs never took it for granted only but they have put all their effort to gain as many as they can about the ICT thingy. Once again, well done peeps!!!!

Reflection of Week 1

Assalammualaikum W.B.T

      This is my first kick of blogging and first entry for new-made blog of mine. For this semester again we are studying on Technology in Education taught by our lecture, Mr.Norsarihan Ahmad. In the beginning of the lesson, we were asked to have our new-own blog as one of the Web 2.0 tools. Then the blog must be completed with our personal details or profile to let all the visitors of the blog (B.Ed.TESL UKM-IPGKS) and lecturer easily to follow the blog. The way we will use to introduce ourselves is through the podcast. Firstly, we have to register at www.podomatic.com. Then, we are  required to record our self-introduce session that we will be linked later on to our blog. Even it was an alien tool for most of us, we are actually gained a new input about the worldwide technology that has been using by others.


      We back to the business for this jammed-packed week. We were assigned to create an account for Wikispaces at http://www.wikispaces.com/. Our first impression is fussiness. We have no idea of what is the "Wikispaces" functioning for. We were introduced to a few Web 2.0 tools and it was one of them. Wikispaces is an amazing and  site for students and educators in the first place to communicate and assigning any courses. Unlike the others social network, wikispaces is simple -to-use and it allows the readers in our site to add in their ideas and information to our wiki site. Despite of it, the user are able to create an interactive photo album, plan a special event such as reunion and as well as adding video, chatting and blogging. For a clear idea about wikispace and how to walk with it, I prepared all of you an easy -to-remember steps. Once you have a wiki account and have created a new wiki, follow these guidelines from wikispaces to get started:

• To invite new members, click on Manage Wiki and Invite People.
• To change your wiki's colors or theme, click on Manage Wiki and Look and Feel.
• To set who can view and edit your wiki, click on Manage Wiki and Permissions     

        As teacher to be, it is vital for me to equip and prepare myself with various kind of knowledge especially in Web 2.0 learning style nowadays. It will assist me to cope well with my future students who come from a different backgrounds.
